Applied Inverse Problems Conference in Rio

The Applied Inverse Problems Conference, or AIP for short, is the main scientific gathering of my field of mathematics. It happens every two years. I have a special love for this congress series because I was the main organizer of AIP 2015 in Helsinki, Finland. In 2025 it was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

I gave a talk entitled Electrical impedance tomography and virtual X-rays, related to my research team’s recent finding that the infamous Radon Transform of X-ray tomography is hidden inside electrical imaging. It is amazing how nonlinear current flows inside a patient or product can be interpreted as X-ray data, even when no ionizing radiation is involved. You can download my slides (PDF 52MB) and see the new peer-reviewed article.
